the noises of laguna beach made ivy feel right at home as she made her way down one of the main sidewalks during the bright, lively afternoon. with the smell of saltwater in the air and the constant cawing of seagulls all around, she knew it had been time to come home and to leave the hustle and bustle of new york city. it had been a well needed retreat for ivy however, leaving the beach bum town and heading to the noisy city where she certainly had to learn to adapt. in a couple of months after ditching laguna right with her new high school diploma in hand, new york city became her other home for a whole year. being back in laguna now felt like deja vu since everything hadn't changed that much. there were still the little shops on every block, the same places she used to hangout, and even most of the people she had sadly left behind were still in town. the people were what ivy feared the most about returning home, knowing well that she would be met with hurt, angry faces for not keeping in touch. right at the moment though ivy was on her way to do just that. well, more like catch up with a close friend that is after months of not speaking. the clack of ivy's clogs moved along the sidewalk as she made her way through the eager residents and tourists in laguna all hyped being by the beach. the atmosphere of living so close to the ocean seemed to make everyone more at ease and chill, which was the top reason ivy held laguna so close to her heart. it was a place she would always call home no matter how long she had been away from it. sweeping her brunette locks onto one of her shoulders she turned down an avenue before entering her favorite coffee shop she had spent endless hours in with friends. the recognizable ding of the bell sounded as the door opened, letting her being met with the smell of the endless amounts of coffee and baked good being made. a soft smile spread onto her light pink lips as she slid off her aviator sunglasses, making her way to a table where her dear friend, rosalie sat awaiting her. "rosa! it's been far too long! look at you!" the words beamed in excitement from ivy as she rushed over, grasping rosalie in one of those tight-never-let-go-bear hugs. even though ivy had left all her friends behind there was no shielding that she still loved them as much as she loved home. "we have so much to talk about, goodness. how is everything? how's the baby? how's your dad? how's the baby dad? oh yes, you do have a lot to tell me about that one!" the questions came whirling out at once of ivy's mouth as she shook her head before taking a seat across from rosalie. a young waiter came over to the two with pad in hand asking for their orders in which ivy asked for a coconut mocha frappuccino and blueberry muffin, one of her usuals she often had when she still lived there.

today was a big day. rosa was going to meet up with one of her best friends, ivy vetta. she had been in new york for what seemed like forever and even though, rosa had been seriously busy (mainly with alexander), she had still missed ivy a lot! ivy had left new york, just a few days after the birth of alexander, so she hadn't seen him since he was nothing but a vegetable, literally. yes, rosalie hadn't been a fan of how alexander looked like when he just had been born. it was in time he developed to become the most beautiful little thing, so ivy had to see him now. speaking of alexander, he was sleeping in the baby lift. it was incredible, even to rosa how much noise, babies could sleep from. this one was of the busiest spots in laguna beach, but she had never seen him sleep more calmly. maybe it was something babies were born with, because when alexander wasn't eating or playing, he was sleeping. and he slept all night long. which was something, rose appreciated a lot. rosa then heard the door open and close and she heard the little bell over the door say the familiar "ding". she had heard it a lot times in those few minutes, she had been here. but as she looked up from her magazine, she saw ivy and a bright and wide smiled appeared on her lips. "ivy!" she said and smiled and hugged her back in the exact same way, ivy had hugged her. "girl, you are glowing! new york did you good, i can see!" she noted and smiled warmly at her best friend. yes, they had a lot to talk about. not only about alexander, but also about luke and her father. rosa needed someone to rant to and ivy had always been willing to listen, when her father annoyed her to no end. rosa then smiled again, thinking now would be a good time to start answering her questions. but right when she opened her mouth, alexander opened his mouth too and started screaming, desperately looking for attention. rosa bent down and picked him gently up from the lift. now he was all visible to ivy. ivy hadn't seen him since the day he was born, so he was bound to look different and bigger now. rosa placed him on her lap, so he faced the world and looked straight at ivy, smiling broadly. rosa smiled. "as you can see, alexander is very well. he is growing every day and he looks so much like lucas." she said and reached down to find a toy and placed it on the table in front of alexander, so he could reach in and play with it, if he wanted to. as the young waiter came, rosa ordered the same thing as ivy. that always tasted so good. she then looked at ivy again. "let's talk about my dad in a little while.. he's still just being my dad. we'll return to him.." she said, rolling her eyes, hoping ivy would understand. rosa loved her father, but he was a pain in the butt a lot of the time. it was like he only wanted to see her, because of alexander. "luke on the other hand.. my, my. i don't know where to begin. i told you, he wasn't there when i gave birth to alexander. but he have been visited us regularly ever since. but my dad doesn't know that. if he knew, he would disown me. he can't stand luke. according to him, he's not "worthy" of me. which is lame, i know he's a few years older than me, but if you have ever seen him with alexander, you know he cares. he loves alexander and he loves me. i'm going to marry him one day." she said and smiled. all of that was true. rosa then kissed alexander on his head and looked at ivy, hoping to get some feedback.

even though the retreat to new york city had done ivy well in the past year for her soul to say there had been some downfalls on leaving her home and friends behind. right after she ran away to the city that never sleeps, rosalie's son, alexander had made his way into the world and with alexander's father, luke not being there for the birth it only made ivy feel more guilty for leaving on such short notice. there were those moments like that that she wish she could have seen while she was so far away from home. she wasn't going to be down on herself however now that she was back home being that she was ready to face everything now. with that said her chocolate colored eyes widened as alexander himself was lifted delicately out of his lift onto rosalie's lap. "oh, rosa! he is absolutely stunning. i can't believe how much he has grown in the time i've been away. honestly he looks exactly like a little you and luke." she cooed at rosalie as she reached out letting alexander wrap his tiny fingers around one of her own. her happiness seemed to glow from seeing him finally and she made a face at him, making him laugh in the process and her in return. it was amazing how something so small could harbor so much joy and happiness by just looking at her. ivy looked up at rosalie as she spoke of her dad, knowing very well it was still a soft subject for her. "no pressure, hun. you know that i don't have the best relationship with my parents either so whenever you want to hit that subject i'll be here to listen." she said with warm eyes. the retreat to new york had never been right in the eyes of ivy's parents and with her back in town they still paraded over her on being her best along with the paparazzi having a field day now that she was back in their camera's lenses. she smoothed one hand through her long locks as the young waiter hurried over to them with their orders in tow, placing them onto the table, slightly out of reach from alexander's grabbing hands. ivy laughed after thanking the waiter as alexander let baby noises bubble up from his throat, trying to reach for the muffin in front of rosalie. her eyes focused back to rosalie however as she spoke of luke, seeing how much she cared for him just by the way she talked of him. ivy still sadly had her doubts about luke with him not being there for the birth of alexander or having not proposed yet to rosalie. she had figured when rosalie was pregnant and shared the news with him that an engagement ring would easily follow, but a year had passed and still her left hand remained bare of that. "i see. it's absolutely wonderful that he has taken the role of alexander's father so easily. what does bother me though with luke however, is that he hasn't taken the role of fiance' with you yet, let alone husband. i'm sorry to give you doubt, but i have never been dishonest with you and i'm not going to start." the words came out in a slight rush as she kept eye contact with rosalie, making sure she understood what she was saying, that she didn't mean at all to hurt her. she took a drink of her warm frappuccino letting it hit her with it's delicious taste before placing it back on the table, tracing the rim of the cup with one of her fingers. "i just think he should have proposed a long time ago. i mean you two have this gorgeous, baby boy, you're getting along beautifully, and besides the fact you're father doesn't approve of it what is he waiting for? ivy knew that with rosalie's dad not liking luke it was going to take time for him to win him over, but she still didn't see why that was a reason to not at least propose to rosalie. she knew that her dear friend had been waiting far too long to have a ring on her finger and it was time she had one. she deserved after all the drama she had been through.
