----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shopping day. Emily Dean's favourite day of the week. She wasn't sure why she enjoyed going to the supermarket so much, or even why she had to shop weekly when only two people lived in her house, but both facts came together to give her a delightful experience each week. She grabbed her keys and left the small house she shared with Robin, heading off to the mall to get a few smaller errands before she did the big grocery shop. Her first stop was the bar to pick up her wages; there was no point in going all the way round a store just to get to the checkout with no money. She was pleasantly surprised by the extra cash in her pay cheque thanks to the hours she had been putting in. She almost skipped out of the bar and back to her car, before setting off again for the mall to treat herself.
Emily pulled into a space and made her way into the large building, only to realise that she wasn't quite sure what she wanted to treat herself with. She could have bought herself some new clothes, but no stores jumped out at her on the mall map. She needed a new stereo, but that seemed like a bit of an overspend even if she was going to treat herself. She could always just continue to use Robin's anyway. She decided inspiration for her treat would come from wandering about. Emily took a stroll through the first level of the mall, past several stores that held no interest at all for her. When she got to the second level, Emily smiled as she came across the comic book store; the perfect place to find a treat.
She entered the store and gave a nod to the bored teenager standing behind the counter, before starting to browse through the aisles. Emily was no comic book buff or die hard collector like most who frequented the shop, but she did have a small selection of favourites. Her interest in 'The Walking Dead' had been reignited thanks to the comic being made into a series, and when she went to re-read the books it came to her attention that she had only collected half of the comics before giving up. She was no trying to finish collecting them, so it made perfect to treat herself with a couple of them. She bought and paid for her new comics, and made her way back down through the mall towards the exit.
When she was on the first floor again, Emily walked past a small coffee shop she used to frequent. She checked the time on her phone, and realising it was still early in the afternoon, decided that she would put off the rest of the errands and grocery shopping for a little while longer. She went inside and bought herself a hazelnut hot chocolate, then realised just how busy the coffee shop was. After standing at the counter for a few seconds staring hopelessly around for an empty table, she spotted one in the corner and hurried over before someone else could take it. Emily had a triumphant smile about claiming the table as she sat down, even though she doubted anyone else actually cared that much. She pulled a comic book out of her bag and slid it out of its plastic cover, settling down to read it as she sipped her drink.
