Corey watched the young woman's face and saw her smile when he mentioned her picking fights. So she found that idea funny, he thought to himself with a smirk. He heard her speak up and he listened as she spoke, saying that he didn't have to worry about her picking fights but she wasn't so sure about him. Neva told him that they could leave the fighting to him. Corey laughed softly at her words. "Only in self-defense." he told her calmly, knowing that she was joking but also needing to explain himself so that she didn't think he was some animal who went and got into bar fights with complete strangers all the time. It was just an innate need within him for her to know that and he wasn't quite sure why. He assumed it was because he really liked her and he didn't want her to get the wrong impression of him. Her next question shocked Corey a bit as it rang through his ears. She asked him if he would be just as upset as he was earlier if something were to happen to her. Neva than called herself just a girl in the bar and one that was fairly awkward. Corey then heard her ask if he was sure that he wanted to go on a date with her. Corey seemed to be at a loss for words as he let that sink into his brain and waited for a response to form.
"I would take you on a date everyday if I could afford to and you were willing." Corey told her, his voice calm and sure as he said it. He was sincere in his words but he was kind of afraid that he was being too serious now. He was also afraid that he would scare her off. He hoped that he hadn't and he was pretty sure that wasn't the case but it didn't stop the jitters that he felt within himself. And, unfortunately for him, they ratcheted up a notch when she let him know that he could stay at her place if he wanted. She seemed like she wanted him to stay with her and, even if he hadn't wanted to, he knew he wouldn't be able to resist doing so. Neva was beautiful and afraid after what had just occurred moments ago. Corey didn't want to take advantage of the situation but she had opened the door for him, he was just walking through it. After he told her that he would only accept if she was sure, he watched her knock back the last of her drink before standing up on unsteady legs and taking his hand. Corey let his larger hand encase hers as he stood and the two of them exited the bar. She told him that she was sure that was what she wanted and Corey nodded as they walked out together.
After a few moments of walking together, he noticed that Neva was unsteady on her feet just the slightest bit and he wondered if she'd had too much to drink. His thoughts were then confirmed when he heard Neva say that it was a good possibility that she had drank a little too much. Corey continued to observe her walking for just a millisecond more before he lifted her tiny body up into his strong arms, cradling her against his chest as they walked. No sense in having her trip and fall if that were to occur. "You're gonna have to give me directions." Corey told her with a gentle smile because he didn't know where she lived and that meant he didn't exactly know where they were supposed to be headed. All he knew right now was the fact that he had a beautiful, warm woman in his arms and he felt completely at peace.

this man was a complete and utter breath of fresh air. something neva scott was not really use too. he was sweet and kind, and just the guy who seemed to care more about her than anyone had in a long time. then again neva had learned way back in the day to keep everyone as far away from her, especially men. they had been hard pressed to actually get close to her, and it was hard on the blonde. then there was corey who was able to see through her and get her back to the happy girl that had once existed and did not hide behind her camera and live through others. neva was actually enjoying herself, and his remark about taking her out everyday brought a grin to her lips. “you would really want to take me out every day? don’t you think i would get boring after a while?” neva was not all that interesting, at least not in her own perspective. call it low self esteem or whatever else you wanted, she truly did not care. all she knew was that she kept herself guarded and did not like the idea of getting hurt in the least. neva enjoyed everything about him and the company that he brought to her life, and that was why she had said he could stay with her. it was not often that she opened up her little apartment to anyone, let alone a male, but something about him made her truly believe that she could trust him. it was just how it was, and she could fully appreciate the way that he was nervous and checking to make sure she was serious about this offer. it gave her all the more reason to believe he was sincere in taking care of her, which was why she had grabbed his hand and lead him out of that bar.
it did not take neva long to realize that she drank way to much for her tiny frame. she was far from being able to walk a straight line, and she clung to corey’s arm for dear life. her apartment wasn’t that far from the bar, but it did not take long for corey to scoop her up in those strong arms of his. she was a bit unsteady about it at first, but she felt him hold her close. it was reassuring and she let her arms wrap around his neck and her head bury into his chest. both of these things were no no’s in the world and handbook of neva scott. she did not let a man get close to her in the least, but there she was letting him hold her and protect her from the dangers of the world. she smiled up at him and nodded. “i think i could manage that. go two blocks, make a right and then i’m the apartment building at the end of the block.” it wasn’t that far, and the directions were simple enough. but what happened next was not what neva had expected out of herself. her dark brown eyes were searching his hazel eyes, and then for a brief moment she let the alcohol take over and she kissed him. soft and gentle, not even lingering, but a soft kiss that spoke volumes. the feel of his lips against hers was one that she could definitely get used to, and she found her voice stammering like an idiot. “i’m sorry corey, i .. i just had too.” she let her eyes fall from him and buried her head back into his chest and felt their steps taking them in the direction of her home.

Corey knew that Neva was someone that he really wanted to get to know. He wanted to know as much about her as he could learn and he felt completely refreshed and at ease with her. It was definitely something new to him and made him grin on the inside. He told her that he would take her out on a date every day if he could and she asked him if he was serious basically, wanting to know if he really wanted to and musing aloud if she would get boring after a while. Corey smiled and shook his head at her second question. "Yes, I'd do it. And, no, I don't think you'd get boring. I'm sure there are many complex layers that would take me forever to unwrap." Corey grinned once more as they exited, feeling damn good about himself. After a few moments, he had noticed how the alcohol was affecting her small frame and he took that moment to his advantage by scooping her up in his muscular arms and cradling her against his chest. It warmed him up inside when she wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head against his chest after the slightest hesitation. He then commented that she would have to give him directions and listened as she told him what he needed to know.
So, she didn't live that far from the bar. Corey wasn't sure how he felt about that. Knowing that she was within a very small distance from drunkards and others like them. He didn't say a word about but rather answered her when she finished telling him where to go. "Yes ma'am." he said, grinning softly as he teased her with the word ma'am, his manners and southern charm oozing from between his lips. But, what happened next was unexpected and the sensations exploded through his body as her lips met his own in a soft and gentle kiss that was reminiscent of the woman who was kissing him. The kiss was quick and over way too soon for Corey's liking. He had certainly enjoyed it and hoped there would be more where that came from. However, he felt a small wave of disappointment wash over him as Neva began to apologize. Corey hadn't realized that he had stopped walking when she kissed him and began moving again towards her apartment. She buried her head against his chest after she apologized and was quiet.
Corey sighed softly to himself before kissing the top of her head and slowly letting his kisses trail down the side of her face from her temple to her cheek until he was able to nudge her head away from the obstruction that was his chest. He would have used his hand to bring her face to his own but they were currently occupied with holding her small body to his own. When her mouth was finally revealed to him, Corey gently settled his mouth against hers and then released her lips after a moment, not wanting her to think that he was taking advantage of anything. But, also wanting her to know that he wasn't opposed to the idea of kissing her. Damn, the two kisses they had shared sent chills down his spine. He had most definitely enjoyed the kisses they had just shared. "Don't apologize for what you feel." Corey whispered, kissing her forehead before beginning to walk again so that he could get her off the streets and out of the dark.
