neva could not believe that she had really be found at a bar right now. the blonde hated being here, but her best friend mackenzie had drug her out, but it did nothing to help her. the alcohol was part of the reason that she was there, and being twenty years old she really wasn’t supposed to be drinking. though she had the fake id from when she was a little thing, rocking the bars and clubs at the age of sixteen. no one even bothered to card her anymore seeing as how neva was always around. tonight though, was not turning out to be so great, considering mack had disappeared and neva was left to fend for herself. she smiled at the bartender asking for another white russian, awaited for her drink. she had been on the dance floor until some random ass guy had started grinding on her, and she pushed him away. the twenty year old had not expected him to follow her to the bar and try to get her a drink. hell she had kindly tried to make it known that she wasn’t interested in anything he was putting down, but the guy did not know how to leave well enough. he kept trying to touch her, and she just kept moving further and further from him. when she had gone to the bathroom, she thought that he had gotten the picture. she stood there and fluffed her hair and sent a text to mackenzie to try and get her attention that something was happening and that she was really uncomfortable, but no. the girl was not answering her phone, but whenever she rounded the corner there he was. neva looked at him and kindly spoke. ”look i am sure that you are a nice guy, but i’m not interested. so can you please, just leave me alone.” her dark eyes pleaded with him, but as soon as the words had slipped from her mouth his lips were pressed against hers in a hungry kiss, and one that she did not want. neva was fighting for him to get off her, and she tried to push him away. when she finally was able to break away from him, she was terrified. ”what the...stay away from me!” she was trying to get away as fast as possible now, but he grabbed her wrist, and all the blonde could do was pray that nothing happened and that he didn’t physically harm her.

Corey, being over twenty one years old, could be found in a bar whenever he felt the need to be in a party scene. He wasn't much of a drinker but he was known to drink socially, especially when he was at a party. Tonight, he was here because it was his best friend's twenty fifth birthday which was a milestone in and of itself. He and their small gang had dragged their asses in here to drink and hit on women. Maybe not necessarily in that order. He sat in a booth with his back against the wall so that he could see the whole bar from where he resided. His best friend was next to him, throwing back shots while their friends cheered him on from the other side of the table. They themselves nursed beers, just as Corey did. Though theirs was much more empty than the bottle that sat on the table sweating before him. He wasn't interested in his drink right now.
No, what he was interested in was a petite blonde that was all over the bar seemingly at one time. He could see that she was moving at a rapid pace but he figured it was just because she was visiting everyone because she was trying to have a good time. Corey knew women that did that. With a sigh, he finally picked up his Jack and took a sip, his eyes never leaving the woman. After a moment, he noticed something that was off. She kept moving away from a man that was much bigger than her and he kept advancing each time she scooted away. At first he had thought that they were boyfriend and girlfriend and she as moving away because she was mad at him. Or maybe taunting him. But, Corey noticed that she nearly ran to the bathroom and stayed in there for a good five minutes. He watched as the male had lumbered over to the women's restroom and posted himself outside the door. That was definitely weird. No, it wasn't uncommon for a boyfriend to wait for his girlfriend while she washed up but Corey had a bad feeling about this particular scenario.
And, as he took another drink of his beer, he realized why.As the woman came out of the bathroom, she was grabbed by the man and kissed roughly. Corey could tell that it wasn't expected or welcomed by the way the woman was struggling against the man's bigger frame. Something was definitely wrong. Standing up, he nodded his buddies' attentions towards the struggle just as the girl broke away and tried to run, only to be grabbed by her wrist by said male. This infuriated Corey because he believed it was wrong to put your hands on a girl in anger. He, unlike that neanderthal over there, had been raised to be respectable towards women. He moved from the table and over towards the struggle. When he got there, he spoke up, his voice low and brooked no argument. "Get your hands off my girl." Corey growled, acting as the possessive boyfriend even though he didn't even know this woman's name.
The asshole had the audacity to tighten his grip on the woman and stare Corey down before letting her go and advancing on Corey. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed two of his friends approaching the woman and gently nudging her to safety away from the incoming fight. They kept their bodies between her and the fray as his best friend began to ask her if she was okay. Corey had no time to hear the reply because the creep was approaching fast. When the man lunged for him, Corey decked him in his jaw, causing the man to stagger before he regained his footing and came at Corey again. This time, Corey wasn't fast enough and the two males took to the floor in a flurry of furious limbs.

this young blonde was not used to this kind of attention, and she sure as hell didn’t want it. she hated this idea more than anything that some man was going to force himself on her. it hurt her more than anything, knowing that this was on the same scale as the night that ruined her life. ever since that night she had not been able to be around men, and she hated it more than anything. but feeling his grip on her wrist tighten, all neva scott could think about was how she was going to get away. something that she had no idea, knowing that she was obviously too tiny to fight him off. that was when she was shocked to find another man walk up to them and claim that she was his girl. she was mildly bewildered as her dark eyes met him. he was handsome and was just breathtaking, and neva felt relieved. he was obviously saving her, but it was what happened next. a few of the other guys, friends of her knight in shining armor she assumed, had scooted her away from harm and were trying to make sure she was okay. neva was watching this whole scenario go on around her, wondering why anyone would want to come and protect her. the blonde was nothing special, and she couldn’t even focus on what his friends were saying to her as she watched him fight for her honor and her safety. the two men were scrapping around hitting each other and throwing kicks and punches, when neva finally found her voice. ”stop, please just stop!” she looked down at the two men and she hoped and prayed that the young man who had rescued her had come out of this relatively unharmed. she pleaded with him to stop and just leave the jerk on the floor. it was all that she had to do, she looked at his friends and pleaded with them. ”make it stop, please!” that was when one of them finally moved and pulled the men apart from each other. as much as neva was terrified of men in general, her dark eyes watched as the young man pulled himself up from the ground. she looked at him, and she moved closer to him, trying to keep up the act of him being her boyfriend. she tilted her head at him and tried to smile letting her right had reach up and lay gently on his face. ”thank you for that.” she said softly. she was truly thankful for him coming to her rescue, and she would rather be happy to get to know him. ”i’m neva, and who would you be mister knight in shining armor?” it was the most advanced that she had ever been with a man, especially since the incident. it was however the least she could do for the man who put it all on the line to rescue her from another night that could very well end her back in therapy.

Flailing punches from the guy he was wrestling with barely fazed him. He took one good one to the mouth, causing it to bleed a little bit before he smashed the guy's face with his own fist. Instantly the man's eye began to blacken and Corey knew that he had struck him pretty hard. The man's angry gaze wavered for just a moment and Corey knew that he had struck a stunning blow. Which meant that he now had the advantage against the bigger guy. They continued to fight, rolling around on the floor like pigs in the mud as the two of them fought for dominance. Corey spit blood to the side when he finally heard screeching from the female he was protecting as she begged them to stop. Corey didn't stop his movements until he heard her asking his friends to stop them. He let himself be pulled away by Johnny, his best friend, but not before he landed one last blow to the man's middle. The guy gasped and curled into himself for a moment before sitting up and flicking Corey off.
Corey turned away from the male without another word to the guy and immediately felt the woman's presence near him. He then felt her hand on his cheek and he met her gaze as she spoke to him. She was thanking him for helping her. Corey, out of breath, could only nod as he regained enough oxygen to function, let alone speak. After a moment, the guy was escorted away, limping noticeably and holding his head. Wiping the blood from his mouth, Corey finally spoke up, "I'm no knight in shining armor." he said softly, calm and gentleman-like, very polite in his wording. "I'm just protecting a beautiful woman from an asshole." He paused, taking the drink that Eric handed him. He took a swig and sighed softly, "Sorry. I'm Corey." He said, finally introducing himself to her.
He had planned to just leave with his friends once he knew that she was okay, without all of the mess of police officers and such. He knew there would be questioning and probably a fine and sorts of stupid shit to deal with but the woman had approached him and his manners forbade him from leaving until she dismissed him. "Can I buy you a drink? You must be pretty shaken up." he asked. He took another sip of his beer. "He a boyfriend or something?" he asked, hiking his thumb towards the guy that was finally being led out the door. He watched as his friends headed back over to their booth in the corner to finish their drinks. Corey knew that he would definitely hear about this for a while.

there was nothing about this fight that pleased neva, and nothing that could make her that uncomfortable. she may have hated the man who had tried to have his way with her, but this was neva scott. she was this awkward little thing that just did not want to be around men. she would rather be off in a corner watching everyone, or there taking pictures to document the night. most nights, neva was only out at the bars so that she was the designated driver. she had only had two drinks so far into the night, and she was glad. right now she had her whits still about her as she pleaded with the men surrounding her to stop. she was probably one of the most nonviolent people in the world, and hated confrontation to begin with. it was just hard for her to understand the need to fight, and she watched in horror as she saw blood spit from her protector’s lips. she was thankful that someone had heard her pleading voice and acknowledged that this was worse than what the idiot had done to begin with, but she stared up into those eyes of his. it was easy to get lost and forget all of the wrong doing that had ever gone on in her young life. four years was a long time to harbor those feelings, and she had tried really tried to break away from the timid thing that she was now. it was not easy, but she let her hand linger on his cheek and was just in awe that someone would want to protect her from this whole fiasco. no one had ever done that, and as his voice filled the air neva’s dark eyes turned from him. she was hardly beautiful, but for whatever reason he thought she was someone worth protecting. “well tonight, you are a knight. you saved me from something i would rather never see happen again.” the idea of a man forcing himself on a woman just made her cringe, but her head was so busy trying to calm itself down and not think about everything that had happened up until this moment. being here with him was well worth everything else.
neva smiled whenever he spoke again, finally getting a name to go with the man who had saved her. it seemed to suit him, and it wasn’t a name that she had really heard before. then again who really heard of neva when they were meeting someone. she let her hand fall and crossed her arms slightly trying to keep herself a little bit guarded. to say she was shaken up was probably an understatement, but neva was refusing to let herself think about any of that until she was safe and locked in her apartment. the last thing she needed was to become a deteriorated mess and break down there in that bar. she nodded her head and tried to bring a small smile to her lips. it was not like her to really drink, but she finally was able to find her voice. “i think i could spare a drink with the man who saved me from a very bad night. a white russian please.” she watched him carefully as he pointed at the guy who had been trying to make the moves on her. her blonde hair shook fiercely and then she had to run her fingers through it. “not in the least. i’ve never seen him before in my life, and the guy just did not know how to take a hint.” she was really uncomfortable even standing there with corey, but she was managing. it wasn’t that bad actually, something she could possibly get used to. “is it someone’s bachelor’s party or something? your friends aren’t going to mind if i keep you for a while?” neva really just wanted to keep him for her own safety because now no man was going to come close to her, not while corey was at her side.

Corey listened as the woman, Neva, explained that he was a knight because he had saved her from something she never wanted to see again. Again? He wondered, thinking that it was probably a slip of the tongue. Or maybe she watched some of those violent movies or something. Whatever it was, Corey let it slide. He was glad that he had been able to save her and that neither of them had been seriously hurt in the process. About the only thing wrong with him was his busted lip and maybe a bruised jaw. He hadn't asked but he was pretty sure that Neva was okay as far as injuries went. He knew that she was shaken up, that was why he had offered to buy her a drink. It was a very gentlemanly move. She took him up on his offer, saying that she could spare a drink with the man who had saved her and he smiled that charming smile of his. She told him that she wanted a white russian and he nodded to show that he had heard before walking away from her and towards the bar, which wasn't far from where they had been standing, and got her drink. He also got himself another Jack and came back, holding it out to her as he asked about the guy who was now outside the door.
Neva informed him that she hadn't known the guy at all and that he hadn't been able to take a hint. "Well, hopefully I was able to teach him that no means no." Corey said, "But hell, if his parents couldn't do it, I doubt he'll ever learn." he mused, taking a sip of his new beer as he looked at her. He then heard her speak up, asking if it was someone's bachelor party and wondering if his friends would be upset if she kept him for a while. Corey took another sip of his drink and then spoke up, "It's actually my best friend's twenty fifth birthday. His name's Johnny, he's the guy who was asking you if you were okay." he informed her, taking another sip of his drink and then bringing it back down to his side. "They won't mind if you keep me, they'll just drill me about it later." he laughed, "Well, once they're sober, of course." Save for Michael, he was the designated driver tonight, even though Corey didn't plan on getting drunk, he knew that he wasn't supposed to drive. "We could join them if you'd like." Corey told her, pausing for a moment, "Or, we could take the booth over there." he nodded to a small, intimate booth the sat just a table over from his friends. It was definitely her choice. Johnny would tell him to woo the girl even though it was his birthday. Though Corey did feel bad about ditching his best friend on his birthday. But, hey, they had spent hours together already and the guy was half out of it as it was. Everything was fine.

here was something about this guy that was just easy, and he made her feel safe. it was an ironic thought to know that he had only just moments ago been defending her honor and saving her from harm. he had rescued her from landing in another therapy session with someone to work through everything in her head. it had been years since she had seen her therapist, but then again she had been cautious to not put herself in situations that would compromise her. this incident at the bar only reminded neva as to why she didn’t come out anymore. she hated it when random men were all over her thinking they had a right to touch her body, and just be disrespectful. something that corey clearly wasn’t as he offered to buy her this drink. it seemed that the only thing that she would drink would be white russians that evening, which was okay with her. she wasn’t really feeling anything else, though she really needed something stronger to put her more at ease after everything. she waited as he slipped away from her for a moment to get them both drinks. when corey returned she graciously accepted her drink and brought the straw to her lips and took a long gulp. the blonde was trying to find the social butterfly that was buried deep within herself, and try to forget about how she was now. the timid little thing that didn’t have many life experiences because she was terrified.
their conversations was light and easy, almost like a river with how they went with the flow. it was just simple, and she could not help but laugh at him. most men who didn’t understand what a hint was, would never learn. they thought they were god’s gift to women, and sadly nev was unimpressed by neandrethals like that idiot that had slumped out of the bar. corey’s busted lip wasn’t all that bad, neither was the black and blue mark on his chin. though she was fairly certain that it would be sore in the morning when the affects of the alcohol wore off and things changed. who knew if this man would even remember the little blonde, but for now she was going to hope that things would stay good. ”i doubt you did, but i really hope so. the next girl may not be so lucky to have a guy like you around to save them.” she smiled brightly up at him, and was thankful for this moment. it was right now that neva felt more like herself than she had in years. she couldn’t hide her excitement to realize that the reason he was there was not a bachelor’s party. a birthday party she would not feel so bad for stealing him away for a little bit. though she was sure that johnny, yeah that was his name, wouldn’t be too thrilled she was stealing his best friend. ”well i’ll have to apologize to the birthday boy later, or buy him a drink. i doubt he will even realize you are gone with how drunk he is getting.” she listened as he said about joining them, and even though she was out of her shell more than she had been in a good long while neva wasn’t sure if she was up for that kind of socializing. instead she grabbed his hand and lead him towards the other booth that he had been talking about. neva let her body slide into one side and she sipped on that drink, which was much better with the company she was now in. “well now what? you went and got me all to yourself.” her dark eyes fell away from him, but managed to catch a glance from under her eyelashes, not sure of what she had really gotten herself into.

Conversation with this woman was easy and free-flowing, he was enjoying every minute of it. She was beautiful and intelligent from what he had heard so far. He could tell that she was a little bit shy but that was okay, he understood that it probably came from the stressful situation she had just been pulled from. But, even if she was shy and kind of quiet by nature, Corey wouldn't mind. He didn't like overly obnoxious girls and those who were loud and rowdy. He liked girls that loved to party but the ones that hung all over every guy there just bothered him. He talked about teaching that guy that no means no but he figured that it hadn't made it through that guy's thick skull. Neva said that he probably hadn't learned but that she hoped he had because the next woman he may prey on wouldn't have a guy like him to save her. Corey smiled and took a sip of his drink. They then talked about where they could sit, whether it would be with his friends or in a more intimate setting of just the two of them in a booth nearby. Corey listened as Neva reasoned it out, saying that they could apologize to the birthday boy later and maybe buy him a drink. Corey laughed and took a sip of his own, "I think he's on his way to his own self-induced hangover." he commented with a laugh.
She took his hand after a moment and he felt her warm skin against his own. It caused a shiver to wiggle it's way down his spine and he smiled to himself. Neva led him over to the intimate booth and they took their seats before she asked what they would do now, considering that he had gotten her all to himself. Corey smiled and took another sip of his beer as he looked at her beautiful face and thought about what they could do. "I saved you but I know nothing about you save for your name, which is very beautiful by the way. Maybe we could start by you telling me about yourself." He was curious to know about her and he was happy that he had stayed to talk with her. Corey really had planned on running but he gained more confidence when there was no sign of police outside or within the bar. He took another sip of his beer and waited for her response. If she didn't want to talk about herself then he would be disappointed but he wouldn't say so. He would tell her about himself if she wanted to know. But she would have to ask questions, considering that Corey didn't like talking about himself right out.

Neva was not the girl to sit there and really want to talk about herself. After years of therapy and doing that day in and day out she had secluded into her shell now more than ever. It also had a lot to do with the fact that she had not really broken out and had to talk about herself at all. New friends were not something that came to the blonde easily, after all she tended to stay with her close group and not venture from her comfort zonem something about cvory was different; something told her that he was someone she could trust and trust did not come easy. Men especially were extremely hard to break through, but he sat there and made her feel comfortable within her own skin. That was something that had not happened in a very long time for this young woman. She was hard pressed to let anyone in, and it was just how she had become. After losing something so special to her it was hard to imagine a life that she could just be herself.
Her dark eyes fell on that drink as she twirled the straw. She wanted to find something to tell him about herself that wasn't that personal, just necause she felt that she owed that to him. After all he had saved her from a fate worse than death in her own eyes. She glanced over at him, seeing that look of anticipation as a small sigh escaped her lips. "well, other than my name there isn't much to say. I'm really rather boring, but I'm going to school for photography so I guess that's something." photography had become her escape, since she didn't really have to be a part of anything. If there was a camera in her hand she could be there without actually being there. She had fallen so far into her little shell that it was hard to break out of it. She had once been this bright happy girl, popular and a cheerleader aznd now she was found in her apartment without really leaving it. Tonight had been the exception, and altthough it had started out rough it was getting better. "I'm also only twenty, but no one cares anymore. I used be here a lot, seeing as how I was a little party animal when I was sixteen, but a lot changed and I don't really come out all that often now." she could only hope that he didn't read too much into it, so as a way to keep his mind off her she smiled and looked up into his captivating eyes. "but what about you? I don't know anything about you but your name either. Well and the fact that you rescue women from harms way." the smile that graced her lips was completely genuine because this man was her white knight and she would be eternally grateful to him.

Corey listened as Neva told him that other than her name, she was pretty boring. Corey didn't believe that for a minute and he told her so, "I honestly don't believe that a woman with a name like Neva could ever be boring." he said with a laugh, taking a sip of his beer as he looked at her. He heard her say that she was taking photography in school and that intrigued him. Corey liked photography as well but he had never thought about going to school for such a thing. "I dabble in photography as well but I don't consider myself that great at it." he commented. He then heard her say that she was twenty years old and that surprised him, considering that he had just bought her a drink no less. She said that it didn't matter though because no one cared considering that she had been a party animal since she was sixteen years old. But, she did say that a lot had changed and that she didn't go out as much anymore. He wanted to ask why but he figured that the story was something really personal and he didn't know her well enough to ask of such things.
Neva then asked about him, saying that she too knew nothing about him but his name and the fact that he saved women from harm's way. He smiled, despite his busted lip and bruised jaw, and took a sip of his beer before clearing his throat and beginning to speak. "Well, as you know, my name is Corey. I'm twenty four years old. I was raised as a gentleman so I know how to treat ladies with respect unlike most men I've met. With the exception of my friends. Boxing is one of my hobbies, to be perfectly honest. And I'm a mechanic." he said with a shrug, taking another sip of his beer as he looked at her. Him being a mechanic was nothing too impressive but he enjoyed his work and that was really all that mattered. "Not to get personal or anything," he started out, pausing for a moment, "But, what brings you to the bar all by your lonesome?" Corey was completely curious about this fact. Why didn't she have some man to look out for her and keep her company? Not that Corey wanted it that way now that he had met her but hell, what if he hadn't been here?

it was hard to imagine someone telling her that she wasn’t boring. the blonde had changed drastically from whenever she was sixteen. the now twenty year old female was a little different and far from the party animal that she had once been. it was just how it was, and she shook her head gently. “well things aren’t exactly the same as they were back then. so this girl named neva is actually kind of boring.” she was hoping that he wouldn’t have picked up on her boring nature, but she was obviously a shy girl. it was not hard to pick up on the fact that she was easily made uncomfortable in most people’s company. but the fact that the man was saying that he dabbled in photography. it made her smile, because it had become her life. photography and getting lost in that world. she was certain that someone else who could share her world would be interesting. that grin spread across her face as her dark eyes instantly lit up. ”well, maybe i can teach you some proper techniques and such.” she was hoping that it would give her another reason to see him. it was hard to know how things were going to play out, because this man was something that neva could really get used to. he made her feel comfortable about everything. she could see the shock in his eyes as he realized that she was only twenty, and it was all well and good. no one cared what the blonde did and it was just interesting to see how he handled her.
when the conversation switched from herself to corey, she was actually relieved. the blonde hated to talk about herself, and it was becoming more and more obvious. it was easier to listen to him and take in all the information that he was saying than to try and figure out what to say about herself that didn’t reveal too much of her past. she had to smile at his age difference, whenever he was graduating she was just a little freshman. she had probably seen him around the school, which was kind of funny. ”so you were always the guy who looked after the younger girls, huh?” it was cute for her to pick on their age gap, but she really enjoyed being there with him. he was right about one thing, he was absolutely right about something, he was certainly a gentleman. he treated her marvelously and it was nice to have someone care about her like this. ”well yes, you are most definitely a gentleman, but a mechanic that likes to box. i don’t think i’ve ever ran into someone with that kind of resume. so what about i teach you proper techniques for photography and you can teach me some self defense?” it wasn’t a far fetched idea considering she had almost been taken advantage of by the guy in the bar. his next question had her caught a little off guard, considering she wasn’t really there alone. she had just been ditched for a man who had caught mackenzie’s attention. she let her eyes fall to the drink in her hands and spoke softly. ”well i didn’t come alone, my friend mackenzie is around here somewhere, but she must have found a guy to entertain her. which probably means i am going to have to walk home.” it was not what she was really looking forward to because the two girls were supposed to be partners in this whole outing that was the reason she had even bothered to come out that night. it was just how that was, but now she was looking at how she was going to get home.

He listened as Neva told him that things back when she was sixteen wasn't the same as they were now. Corey wanted to ask why but again he squashed that idea and let her secrets lay where they may. He could tell that she was happy that he dabbled in photography considering that it was what she was going to school for. He noticed the way her eyes lit up when he said it and he could tell that she had some ideas running through that beautiful, blond head of hers. Corey then heard her say that she could teach him some proper techniques and such. That interested Corey and he smiled, taking a swig of his beer before responding. "I could agree to that." he said with a grin, knowing that her idea meant that he could see her again. And, on her own terms. He could definitely live with that because he wanted to see her again. She was beautiful and as long as she was unattached, Corey was interested. Plus, her being only twenty didn't bother him considering that it was only a four year gap between the two of them. Things couldn't get any better right now. He took another sip of his drink and sat the bottle on the table.
When he mentioned respecting women, Neva joked on him, asking if he was the guy that protected the younger girls. Ha, it was a joke on his age and he got it. Corey laughed and shook his head at her as he did. It was true and he knew that she had already guessed it. "I'm like the big brother type to most." he commented with a grin. She then agreed that he was a gentleman and then admitted that she had never met a mechanic who could box. She joked about not seeing that on anyone else's resume and he smiled. He could have made a joke about being an original but it died on his lips. No reason to cheapen the moment with a lame joke, he thought as he picked up his bottle once more and took another drink. When it was empty, he sighed and set the empty bottle on the table, passing it back and forth between his hands as they conversed.
Corey then heard Neva offer a good deal to him and he had to hide the grin that threatened to cross his face at that exact moment. She would teach him proper photography techniques if he would teach her self-defense. Corey looked at her and finally grinned, "That sounds like a good plan - idea - to me." he told her with a nod. "I can turn you into a little fighting machine in no time flat, I bet." he told her, continuing to play with the bottle as they talked. Her suggestion made his heart thump more wildly and caused him to become anxious and excited. She definitely wanted to see him again! He didn't care if it was for a romantic reason or not, just knowing that she was making an effort to see him again, more than once he might add, was an amazing sign for their future. Even if it was just as friends. Though, in time, he hoped that he could turn it into more. Corey then asked her why she was alone and she admitted that she had actually come with a friend named Mackenzie who had ditched her in order to hook up with a random guy from the bar. Or, at least, that was what he had inferred when she said that she had found a guy to entertain herself with.
When she said that she would probably have to walk home because of it, he instantly felt himself reject the idea and almost blurted out a denial. Corey looked at her sweet face and shook his head, "I can't have that." he admitted softly. "I have a perfectly good truck outside and I can take you home. Or rather, my buddy Michael can because he hasn't had a drop of alcohol tonight. But, I'll be in the truck with you." Corey shrugged. "Or, if you don't feel comfortable with that, I'll walk you home and Mike can follow us and take me home afterwards." Corey didn't mind which option she chose but he was guessing that she would opt for them walking, considering that she had opted for them to sit alone rather than with his friends.

neva’s little heart was pounding in her chest, knowing full well that she had put herself out there further than she had ever with another man. it damn her broke her to think that she was even capable of still doing that and it was something so far fetched for the blonde. she had never been the one to ask any male if they wanted to spend time with her. it had always been the guys who came and found her, even when she was drinking heavily and just being out of control. she was not the woman who just let words slip from her mouth like that. it damn her gave her a heart attack as the question slipped from her lips, but as soon as it had fallen on his ears there was a smile emerging. it was nice to know that it was not just her who felt there was something there between the two of them, though she had no idea what it was or how she felt about it. though she would have plenty of time to figure it out, she was kind of interested in where a conversation could take them, seeing as how it just seemed to roll right from her lips. there as more said about herself than she had ever shared with another person, well besides her therapist, and she could actually find herself joking around with him. something about corey and his age was just cute, that he was looking out for the younger girls, and it made her question if men were still cougars if they were on the prowl for younger women, and if not what were they called? neva shook her blonde head gently as he spoke. she most certainly did not think of him as a big brother type, at least not to her. he was the gorgeous best friend’s brother type, which was all perfectly legal. it was when a soft laugh escaped her lips. “well, i don’t see you as a big brother, if that makes you feel any better. more like the best friend’s older brother that is still super protective. oh, better yet the eldest sibling in a large family. i hear they get pretty crazy.” neva had never really had that close of a family life, but maybe that was why she had turned to drugs and alcohol at a young age.regardless, right now she was where she should be, and where she wanted to be.
the brown eyed woman had no idea what to make out of her proposition, because it could be seen as a date...then again it was her. she was a timid little girl that did not bust out of her comfort zone in the least, and yet here she was sitting in a booth alone with a total stranger. for all she knew he could have played the knight in shining armor just to pick her up, and neva was like putty in that man’s hands. she smiled brightly whenever he spoke about whipping her up into a little fighting machine, but what he didn’t know was how badly neva hated confrontation. the little shrieking that had occurred tonight was absolutely nothing compared to what she used to withstand when her parents were together. it had broken her heart and even through it all she wanted to believe so badly in true love. “i don’t think it will be no time. i’m a very nonconfrontational person, in case you haven’t noticed. but yes, it is a date.” she heard the last words slip from her mouth, and her hands instantly shot to her face to cover her mouth. she could not believe that she had said that in the least, but the words were out and if he didn’t want it to be a date that was okay. but that was all before he had asked about her reason for being here, and now she was going to have to walk home by herself. a soft smile crossed her lips as he sat there and told her that there was no way in hell that she would be walking home by herself and the many options that he listed. the funny thing about neva was that she was perfectly content with walking and it would probably do her petite self some good after the night she had had. ”you really are a gentleman, offering to take me home. i actually don’t mind walking, but if you insist on occompanying me then you will have to be okay with walking too.” she smiled and found his eyes, and soon words were slipping from her lips that had never happened before. “corey, i have a perfectly fine couch that you can crash on, that way i don’t cause your friend to lose two guests from his party, i mean...only if you want to.” hell it was more if he wanted to spend that much time with her in one night, but she wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet and it scared her more than anything.

Corey wasn't so sure on how he had gotten so lucky as to meet Neva on this fine night. It had originally been planned to be a guy's night out with his best friend Johnny for the guy's twenty fifth birthday but now that that event was drawing to a close, Corey found himself with something else to keep him occupied. A beautiful blond woman whom he had saved from an asshole who was probably going to try and do unspeakable things with her. Just the thought of it had Corey's molars grinding in the back of his mouth. He was glad that he had stumbled upon that incident and was able to save the woman before she was hurt. He was also lucky that after said incident, she was willing to hang out with him, considering that she had just seen him get into a bar fight of all things. He focused on her words after a moment and heard her say that she didn't see him as the big brother type so much as she did the best friend's older brother, maybe one who was the oldest in a large family. Corey laughed and knew that she was pretty accurate, but there was no point in telling her that directly. "Hmm, I guess you could be right." he hedged with a grin. To know that she thought of him as the best friend's brother meant that she probably thought he was hot or at least worth looking at as a potential boyfriend. How did he know that? Well, he had heard that song from that Victorious show or whatever it was called.
When they were talking about exchanging photography tips for self-defense lessons, Corey had mentioned that he would make her into a little fighting machine in no time. Neva had quipped saying that it probably wouldn't be no time considering that she was a non-confrontational person. Corey smiled softly at her words before he finally spoke up, "I don't expect you to go around and pick fights with people." he said with a laugh. "The goal is to have you know what to do in the event that you're threatened, God forbid." He had heard her say the word date as in, what they were going to do would be a date and he could tell that she was kind of embarrassed by her word choice as her hands shot to her mouth and she covered it. Corey, who liked the word choice, smiled, "It's a date." he agreed, seemingly unaffected by her shyness about what she had just said.
The conversation moved on to him escorting her home one way or another and she told him that she wanted to walk and that she was fine doing so alone. But, if he wanted to accompany her, he would have to walk with her. Corey didn't mind that in the least, considering that he had offered to do just that not even five minutes ago. But, what she said next basically shocked the living hell out of Corey because he hadn't expected it. She was offering for him to stay in her house when he was basically a stranger to her. It had to say a lot for his character for a woman who barely knew him to feel safe enough to invite him into her home where he could take advantage of her without anyone knowing if he so chose. Thankfully for Neva, Corey would rather gut himself than to touch a woman in malice. She commented that she didn't want his friend to lose two people from his party if he asked Michael to take him home. Corey smiled softly, trying to think of what to say to her, whether to decline or accept and even how to express his thanks.
"The party's wrapping up anyway." he told her, watching as his friends gathered Johnny between them to ensure that he didn't fall on his ass. They also collected the last of their drinks and finished them off. They nodded to Corey and he nodded back, signaling that he was in fact okay. He knew that Michael would come back for him if need be after he dropped everyone else off. Corey looked at Neva again with sincerity in his gaze, "I will accept your offer if you are completely sure it's what you want." he told her calmly, wanting Neva to be certain that she wanted Corey to crash on her couch for the night. He wouldn't feel comfortable doing so unless she was.

there was something about him that just captivated her, considering she was saying more than she had ever imagined before. neva would not have been the girl to joke around and say something about him being good looking. at least not as directly as she had, yet there she was laughing and joking around. maybe it was the alcohol combining with her nerves and everything else that revolved around her and her shy nature. yet she was okay with him saying that she may or may not be right. it brought a small smirk to her lips as their conversation ventured on. it was so easy like the flow of a river and how it all moved so effortlessly. neva enjoyed this part of finding someone you “connect” with, considering everything corey had done for her that day she was thankful that he had bothered to stick around. neva had used the word date and it had caught her off guard. the blonde had not been on a “date” in years. hell she normally kept to herself and her movies, but apparently self defense classes and photography lessons could be a date. she smiled lightly whenever he spoke about her picking fights. “you don’t have to worry about me picking fights. though i’m not so sure that can be said about you, so how about i leave the actual fighting to you?” she was obviously teasing the man who sat beside her, but how could she not. they were just easy like that. “would you really be as upset as you were tonight if something were to happen to me? i’m just a girl in a bar, nothing more and one that is fairly awkward. are you sure you want to go on a date with me?” she was just making sure he knew what he was doing whenever he said about dating her. the last thing she needed was someone trying to figure out her head, but she figured she could at least give corey a chance.
it was kind of sad how excited she was that he had offered to take her home. neva was not really ready to watch him walk the other direction and away from her. it was just a thought that she did not want to think about, but walking was a good way for the blonde to clear her head. especially after everything that had gone on that evening. she couldn’t really believe her voice whenever she spoke, but yes she had clearly just offered him to stay in her apartment. the blonde was not someone that opened her door for anyone, but there was something about him that made her feel completely at ease. hell he had rescued her from a toolbag that was going to do god only knows what with her tiny body. so there was absolutely no reason to distrust her instincts. corey was a good guy that was clearly more concerned with her own well being than much of anything else that evening. she watches as his friends gathered up and started moving to the exit, which really made neva wonder where mack had run off too. oh well, but she watched corey as his gaze came back to her dark eyes. “i will accept your offer if you are completely sure it is what you want.” he was such a gentleman, and this forward side of her former self made a much needed appearance as she knocked back the last of that drink. she had probably drank a little too much as her tiny body swayed effortlessly as she stood. she grabbed his hand and started to walk to the exit and linked her arm with his as she laid her head gently against his arm. “i am perfectly sure that this is what i want, so away we go.” she laughed lightly and started to lead him in the direction of her home. “i think it is a good possibility i drank a little too much tonight.” her feet seemed to be failing at walking in a straight line, and right now she could not be happier that he was taking her home.
